Petition: Withdraw Draft Law No. 8150 Allowing Abuse of Animals

On 24 October 2022, a draft law 8150 was submitted to the Ukrainian Parliament “On Amendments to Certain Laws of Ukraine on Improving the Requirements of the Legislation on Food Products, Feed, Veterinary Medicine, and Animal Welfare.”

The draft law proposes:

  • Remove from the law “On the protection of animals from cruel treatment” the clause prohibiting the mass destruction of homeless animals for depopulation. This can lead to mass extermination of homeless dogs and cats.
  • Again allow the production of foie gras in Ukraine, for which animals are subjected to terrible torture.
  • Allow slaughtering, burning, skinning, smoking, dismemberment of animals, etc. until their heartbeat stops. That is, subjecting animals to torture even at the moment of killing.

Please sign the Petition to the President of Ukraine, calling upon him to withdraw this draft bill.

Thank you!

Ever since the first animal shelters opened in the 19th Century, dogs and cats have been housed in cages.  Our open-space natural shelter concept is based on cage free housing because dogs and cats are social animals.
